(Dallas, Texas) — The Avila Family is proud to announce that after closing for renovations, Avila’s Mexican Restaurant will officially reopen on Wednesday, May 12th, 2010. An internal facelift will greet customers when they return to visit us. Also a new patio deck outside is planned for later in the summer.

The family is eager to greet their longtime regulars and new friends. According to Avila’s founder and owner Anita Avila, “All customers new and old will receive a warm welcome at our table.”Top of Form

Along with a new look for Avila’s comes a renewed focus on giving back to the Oak Lawn neighborhood, home to Avila’s for 25 years. To honor this milestone anniversary, Avila’s is proud to announce that a grand opening will occur in June of 2010, 25 percent of its proceeds will benefit the Mi Escuelita Preschool program*. "We believe supporting the Mi Escuelita Preschool as part of our reopening is a perfect way to celebrate our 25 years of success,” said Patricia Avila Guajardo, daughter of Anita Avila.

Gabrielle Martinez could not agree more, and has pledged to donate $1,500 to the Mi Escuelita Preschool program in honor of her late grandfather, Octavio Avila. “My grandfather would be proud to know that the restaurant he opened in 1986 is still a vibrant part of the community he loved so much,” Martinez said.

Aside from the refurbishments, patrons can expect to receive the gracious welcome and meticulously prepared food that Avila’s is known for. Over the past 25 years, Anita Avila’s recipes have been prepared with the freshest ingredients and gained a wide following among Dallas foodies.

Popular dishes such as brisket tacos, chiles rellenos, mole, and of course, a signature fiery hot sauce will be complemented with daily grilled specials and a wide range of Mexican tequilas, beers, wines and thirst-quenching aquas de limón y melón. In honor of their May 12th reopening celebration, Avila’s menu will also feature various appetizer, entree and beverage specials.
